Demographic Breakdown of Unemployment and Non Labor Force...
Demographic Breakdown of Unemployment and Non Labor Force Workers in the Nation There are many different age brackets, genders, and ethnicity that make up unemployment in the labor force. Some of the same people who were once in the labor force also make up the workers who are not counted in the labor force anymore. Unemployment is important to the economy and the society that we live in because the more people without any jobs and/or not having a legitimate source of income will increase crime, poverty, political unsteadiness, downgrade health standards, and mental health problems. Unemployment can also cause underemployment which is not good for the economy. An Analysis Of Huston And Wright s Stories - 921 Words
I first want to say marriage can be a beautiful experience, if it is done right. It takes a lot trial and error to have a perfect marriage. There has to be a clear understanding of what kind of lifestyle they both want to live. Sharing the same goals and dreams creates a solid foundation for the future. My parents have been married for twenty years. Every year that passes, I wonder how many more years they will put up with each other torment. Being around my parentââ¬â¢s kills me because I know the truth, and the ill truth is that the passion and love they once shared with each other is no longer there. This scares me because how is that you can love a person for some many years, and then turn around and treat each other like strangers. Sadly, I can relate to Huston and Wrightââ¬â¢s stories because of the hostile environment I grew up in. My mother never had a special skill so she joined the Air Force where she attended college. She got the opportunity to travel to Japan, Hawa ii, and even Korea. Now, she is dedicated stay at home mom who is still trying to find out where she can fits in the corporate world. On the other hand, my dad has not been passed the Georgia state lines, however he is a hard workingman who takes care of his family at any cost. Using Proper Tone in Communication free essay sample
Using Proper Tone The challenge of online communication is that we have to depend solely on words to express our meaning. As an example, we do not have the ability to strengthen our communication in a positive manner with a simple smile or nod of the head, nor are we able to add body language or tone. This makes a simple message vulnerable to being misunderstood or to be taken negatively. Written communication also lacks visual cues such as a high pitch or deepening of the voice. When writing a message to a professor or classmates, I would keep the intended audience in mind and choose an appropriate greeting. I would then reference specific comments posted, reinforce course material or express a personal experience. The response would be a natural unforced conversation that is clear, to the point, and direct to an individual or the classroom as a whole. When talking with family such as my parents or elders itââ¬â¢s very important for me to use proper grammar and etiquette. A word was never spoken out of turn and you never asked questions. The tone would always have an even balance in communication and responses were clear, concise and to the point. When talking with friends I sometimes use emoticons to express emotions such as being disappointed or laughing. There have been occasions when I have used upper case letter to convey excitement or shouting and even internet lingo to shorten typing such as lol (laugh out loud) or OMG (oh my god). Even though communication habits are a little relaxed they are still to the point and directed to an individual.

Maintenance - and Capital Improvements Businesses
Question: Discuss about the Maintenance, and Capital Improvements for Businesses. Answer: Introduction: According to the Australian tax laws, section 6.5, the assessable income of an Australian resident is considered to include concepts that are ordinary and the income will, therefore, be known as ordinary income. Ordinary income will be treated differently depending on the type of residency of the citizen. The ordinary income of an Australian resident will be said to be assessable if it includes all the sources that accrue income to the resident if it is either indirectly of directly. The income will be assessed irrespective of whether it was gained in the country or outside Australia in the year of income (Wolters, 2016 p1). If the person being assessed for tax purposes is a non-resident, the income that will be assessed for tax purposes will be the income that is derived indirectly or directly from their sources in Australia in the year of income. In this case, a non-resident person is a person who leaves in Australia but does not have an Australian citizenship. They include investors and people who may have relocated to the country after some time, and they have not yet gained the full citizenship of the country. The other income that will be treated as ordinary income will be the income that will be said to be derived from the citizen if the amounts accrued were transacted on behalf of the resident and the income is directly attributable to the resident person. In the case of Peta, he purchased the house in Kew. It is not clear if Peta was a resident or non-resident in the country. The reason for the purchase of the property was for him to live with his family and to build a different unit on the tennis court. The selling of the additional units would be treated as ordinary income for tax purposes irrespective of whether Peta is a resident or nonresident. The only difference will be in the tax rates that will be applied in the calculation of the tax. After Peta had been offered the opportunity to sell the tennis courts, he was able to change his mind on building additional units for sale. The condition for the tennis club purchasing the tennis court was if the current court was restored to a good condition. The cost incurred for restoring the court into a good condition will be considered as repairs and maintenance in preparing the income of Peta. That means that the costs will be reduced from the income that will be received after the sale. Repairs and maintenance are usually tax deductible because they are treated as capital expenses for purposes of tax. The fact that Peta accepted the offer to sell the tennis court after repairing it means that he has to record all the expenses that are incurred in the maintenance process (William, 2016, p1). The amount that was spent by Peta was 100,000 dollars. However, the amount has to be broken down because there are some activities that are not considered as capital expenditures in the calculation of tax. One of the activities that will not be deductible will be the cost that was incurred for fencing. This is because the items that are deductible are those that are aimed at restoring the good condition of a place, and fencing will not be considered as one of them. When calculating the capital gains tax of Peta, the receipt of the 600,000 dollars should be treated as ordinary income. This is because the income was derived directly from an Australian source. That means that the classification of the income will not matter whether the income was from a resident or non-resident person (Efile.com, p1). According to the Australian tax office, the fringe benefit is considered to be the payment that an employee is entitled but is different from their wages and salaries. The benefit is usually provided on the employment contract of the employee. For tax purposes, an employee will be defined as a person who has an entitlement to receiving salaries and benefits from a person or organization (Commonwealth consolidated acts, 2016, p1). The fringe benefit will be provided in a case where the employer allows the employee to use the car provided by the organization for private purposes. It also applies when employees are entitled to loans at a lower rate. It also includes memberships to clubs and reimbursement for expenses incurred by employees such as airtime and school fees. Benefit Amount School fees 20,000 Handset 2,000 Tax liability 22,000 (Australian taxation office, 2016, p1). The tax liability for ABC Company will be equal to 22,000 dollars for the financial year ending 31st March 2016. The company will not be liable for FBT on the mobile phone bill because the airtime by Alan is used for work purposes only. That means that the expenses will be treated as a normal operations cost to the company. The fees for Alans children will be treated as a fringe benefit because it is an expense that is not incurred in the course of the business of the company but the employees are given a privileged for been works of the company. The full amount of 20,000 dollars should be subjected to the calculation of the FBT of the company. The cost for the mobile phone that is provided by the company should be treated as a fringe benefit. This is because it has not been indicated if the phone is used purely for work purposes or Alan also goes with it at home. The calculations have assumed that an employee does not leave behind the phone at work, but the airtime that is used for personal use is purchased by the employee (Australian taxation office, 2016, p1). For the amount incurred by the company in the restaurant will be treated differently based on the frequency of the dinners. If the dinner is treated as a normal company operation, then the expense will be treated as a fringe benefit for the employees. This is because it will be treated as a normal expense for the company because it will be assumed that the employees are assured of the services from the company on a regular basis. If the expense was incurred as a one off thing, then it will be treated as an employee expense for the company. This will apply if it was a treat that never happens as a routine for the company on the normal operations of the company (Australian taxation office, 2016, p1). The application of the costs will be treated in the same way a bonus for employees is treated. If employees are assured of the bonus on an annual basis based on the performance of the company, then the tax is usually taxed. However, if the company just decides to award the employees with t he bonus, it will be treated as company expenses and not chargeable on the employees. If the company had only five employees, then it would be assumed that the company owed the employees an obligation of providing them with meals. This will form part of the employee expenses in the company and would be reduced from the income of the company (Australian taxation office, 2016, p1). If clients were available in the dinner for the company, then the cost will be treated as a normal company costs. It will be treated as an expense for the company as an advertising cost. The cost will be categorized as an advertising cost because it will be assumed that the dinner is aimed at appreciating the clients of the company and ensuring that the customers of the company will retain in the next financial year of the company (Australian taxation office, 2016, p1). Ocular Visit Essay Example
Ocular Visit Essay Theà Barangay is theà basic unit of government here in the Philippines. According to the address of Senator Bongbong Marcos in Liga ng mga Barangayââ¬â¢s 1st General Assembly held at Heritage Hotel Manila, it is the soul of local government autonomy. We are to select a barangay that is the beneficiary of our chosen project. We chose the Barangay Salinas 1, Bacoor City,à in theà provinceà ofà Cavite,à Philippines because last July 10,2013, several houses were burned that caused some families to become homeless. In the Barangay of Salinas 1, they belong to a first class municipality in terms of income. It is also convenient for them because SM City Bacoor is near the vicinity. The neighbourhood we entered is peaceful. I have also observed and learned that there are many town homes subdivision and there are two phases of Meralco Housing project located in this barangay. There is also an elementary school with covered court and children center in which the environment is conducive for learning. Good thing also is that there are trees in some household and there is also grass area. Local government officials are also working to improve their barangay. They posted accomplishment reports in their barangay hall to showcase their implemented projects like the constructing a waiting shed entitled: ââ¬Å"Silungan ng mag-aaral umulan man o umarawâ⬠headed by Sanguniang Kabataan. There are also some negative aspects or weaknesses in the barangay of Salinas 1. One is that the barangay is beside a river so it is located in a flood plain. There will be occasional flood in the area especially if heavy rain continually pours. I also observed that small roads and less social interaction in the neighbourhood. There is also less engagement that inherently creates a community who take pride and self-responsibility for what goes on in their neighbourhood and its outside appearance. The project I would like to propose is a leadership seminar for adults in the barangay ages 21 and above. It is because while we were walking around the neighbourhood, I noticed that there is less interaction of people living in the neighbourhood. Through this project, it will allow people to resolve collective problems more easily. The community will be able to advance more smoothly. Sometimes, they wonââ¬â¢t have to rely on local government to keep their infrastructure and the environment in tip-top shape. Another is for health and safety issues. People should know how to take appropriate actions in any situation especially that there was a fire that killed a five-year old boy. And lastly, for the importance of community dialogue. Every barangay needs leaders who understand the importance of public discourse and civic conversations who can also connect with the local officials.

Quotations and Block Quotes in Chicago Referencing
Quotations and Block Quotes in Chicago Referencing Quotations and Block Quotes in Chicago Referencing When writing an academic paper, you may need to quote something youââ¬â¢ve read somewhere. But how to do this depends on the referencing system being used, so it pays to do some research. In this blogpost, weââ¬â¢re looking at how quotations work in Chicago referencing. Quoting vs. Paraphrasing When citing a source, you can either use a direct quotation or paraphrase what youââ¬â¢ve read. Direct quotation involves using the exact words written in the source youââ¬â¢re citing. To do this, you should place the quoted text inside double quotation marks (i.e., ââ¬Å" â⬠). Itââ¬â¢s a good idea to quote a source directly if your argument depends on the exact wording of what youââ¬â¢re quoting. Air quotes are a bit different.(Source: Rob Cottingham/YouTube) If you donââ¬â¢t want to quote a source directly, you can paraphrase it instead. This means explaining what youââ¬â¢ve read in your own words. However, you still need to cite a source when paraphrasing, and you should be careful not to accidentally copy the original authorââ¬â¢s wording. Footnotes or In-Text Citations? Since Chicago referencing offers two ways of citing sources, the exact rules will depend on which version you use. With the footnote and bibliography system, you should indicate citations using superscript numbers (e.g. 1, 2, 3) after the quoted text: Mitchell investigates ââ¬Å"possible causal pathways connecting genetic replicators and social behaviors.â⬠1 The first time you cite a source, you then need to give full bibliographic information in the accompanying footnote (including page numbers for the section quoted). With the author-date version of Chicago referencing, sources are cited in the main text of your paper. When quoting, this means giving the authorââ¬â¢s surname, year of publication, and relevant page numbers in parentheses after the quotation: It is important to investigate ââ¬Å"possible causal pathways connecting genetic replicators and social behaviorsâ⬠(Mitchell 1996, 132). If the author is named in the text, however, the citation is given after their name: Mitchell (1996, 132) investigates ââ¬Å"possible causal pathways connecting genetic replicators and social behaviors.â⬠Full bibliographic information of all cited sources is then given in the reference list. Long Quotations The other key fact to remember is that longer quotations are formatted differently in Chicago referencing. These are known as ââ¬Å"block quotesâ⬠and should be: Prose quotations of five or more lines Not enclosed in quotation marks Preceded and followed by a blank line Indented .5â⬠from the left margin The rules for citing a block quote are the same as when quoting a source elsewhere in your text. As such, a Chicago-style block quote using footnote citations would look something like this: Discussing genetics and behavior, Mitchell writes that: In order to evaluate the legitimacy of such explanations it is, thus, necessary to explicate the variety of possible causal pathways connecting genetic replicators and social behaviors. If phenotypic variation is the direct object of natural selection, one must understand the underlying relationship between the phenotypic expression and genetic replicators to argue that any such phenotypic trait is, or can be, an adaptation.1 This suggests that the relationship between genetics and behavior in animals isâ⬠¦ The full citation for the source would then be given in a footnote at the bottom of the page.

Materials and manufacture 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1
Materials and manufacture 2 - Essay Example ected to be hard; hardness is a property of a metal, which enables it to resist being permanently deformed, broken, or its shape being changed when a load is applied. Hardness of a mental is in direct relationship to its resistance, the greater the hardness of metal, the great the resistance to deformation (Nisbett, 2005). In order to establish the properties of materials under given conditions, they are normally subjected to various tests. The tensile strength of a material is a measure of how resistant the material is to failure under tension. The tensile test measures a materialââ¬â¢s strength under tension. The testing involves applying a pulling force to a material from both sides until the material changes its shape or breaks. Metals, plastics, wood and ceramics are the common materials whose tensile strengths are measure. The recommended SI unit when testing tensile strength is either Pascal (Pa) or Newton per square meter, some engineers measure tensile strength in kilo-pound per square inch (KSI) (Davis, 2004). The impact strength of a material is the property of a material to resist failure under impulsive forces. The Charply impact test measures the energy absorbed by a standard notched specimen while breaking under an impact load (Lambert, Miriam and Susan, 2010). The test is being used as an economical quality control method so as to determine the notch sensitivity and impact toughness of engineering materials. The rotary strength of a material is the property of the material to resist failure under torsion. The Rotary fatigue test involves determining the relationship between the stress range and the number of times it can be applied before causing failure. In the process of determining rotary test of a material, testing machines are used for applying cyclically varying stresses and cover tension, compression, torsion and bending or a combination of these stresses (Mitchell and Jerina, 2007). Yet again, the carbon composition of a material impacts
